NITROAA Establishes Scholarship for Students of National Institute of Technology, Rourkela
MILTON, GA (PRWEB) January 15, 2018 -- National Institute of Technology, Rourkela Overseas Alumni Association (NITROAA) announced today that it has established a new scholarship, called the "NITROAA Scholarship". This scholarship will help meet the financial needs of deserving undergraduate students at National Institute of Technology, Rourkela, Odisha, India (NITR).
The NITROAA Scholarship was developed by a three-member committee appointed by the NITROAA board. More than 40 NITROAA members have already contributed to the new scholarship. "I am pleased to announce that we have already raised over $30,000 within five months of forming the NITROAA scholarship committee. The committee wholeheartedly thanks each and every donor," said Gary Krishnan (class of 1972), a member of the Scholarship Fundraising Committee. The two other committee members, who have worked diligently along with Mr. Krishnan in establishing the scholarship, are Dr. Debendra Das (class of 1972) and Susil Panda (class of 1991).
The funds raised thus far are a good start towards NITROAA’s goal of raising $300,000 over the next five years for the NITROAA scholarship. "Many NITROAA members deserve recognition for this great start," Dr. Birendra Jena, President of NITROAA and a 1973 NITR graduate, said. "Without support from our enthusiastic donors, the members of the Board, and the Scholarship Fundraising committee, it would not have been possible to establish this scholarship. I am positive that more NITROAA members will come forward and help us reach our goal."
