Historic Event for Artists to Take Place in Santa Fe, Will Break World Record for Most Painters Painting Together in a Single Location
SANTA FE, N.M. (PRWEB) January 17, 2018 -- Over 1,000 artists from around the world will converge to paint the landscape in Santa Fe, New Mexico, for the 7th annual Plein Air Convention, created by PleinAir magazine. The event is a gathering of outdoor painters, commonly referred to as “plein air painters” based on the French term en plein air, which has come to mean painting outdoors.
The artists will attend indoor instruction sessions with a large faculty of some of the world’s best landscape painters. They will then paint together outdoors each day, and will break the world record for the most plein air painters painting simultaneously in one place at one time. The earlier world record was broken at last year’s event, in San Diego, California.
Painting locations in and around Santa Fe will be announced during the 2018 convention and will be available to all registered attendees.
The convention will provide four different stages, focused on oil painting instruction as well as water media, pastel, acrylic, and urban sketching. There will be dozens of live demonstrations, critique sessions, and specialty sessions focused on specific painting challenges. All sessions and all painting will be available for a flat fee to attendees, with no separate fees other than for a pre-convention workshop with well known artist Kevin Macpherson and a beginners’ plein air basics course.
The convention has a faculty of 70 of the world’s top artists on its stages, and faculty members will also paint outdoors with attendees. The convention also provides “field painters,” top instructors who will roam around and assist people who are painting based on what they learned during instructional sessions earlier in the day.
Each morning will include art marketing sessions for all artists registered for the convention. These sessions are newly created each year to help artists determine the most effective ways to market their art.
