Vaughn College Hosts Congressman Joseph Crowley as he Announces Plan for Improving the Lives of Middle-class New Yorkers and Working Families
FLUSHING, N.Y. (PRWEB) January 17, 2018 -- Vaughn College of Aeronautics and Technology hosted Congressman Joseph Crowley as he revealed his plan for improving lives through “A Better Deal for Queens and the Bronx.” The plan offered proposals and legislation to improve the lives of middle-class New Yorkers and working families.
Vaughn College serves many first-generation Americans and first-generation college students and is recognized as a Hispanic-serving institution. Vaughn College President Dr. Sharon B. DeVivo commented, “Congressman Crowley’s plan to help New York City residents and improve communities through student aid, housing for veterans and support of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) careers, goes hand-in-hand with Vaughn’s vision. Our student population is reflective of Queens and its diversity with eighty percent minority and 13 percent veteran students.”
Vaughn College was recently recognized as having the highest upward mobility rate among 2,137 colleges nationwide. This means that Vaughn was listed as the top institution for moving students from the bottom 40 percent to the top 40 percent in income.
“Students achieve professional success because we are a community invested in their personal and professional lives,” said DeVivo. Ninety-seven percent of Vaughn graduates are employed, 82 percent in a related field, or continuing their education within one year of graduation.
