Growth in datacentre capacity and public cloud adoption, and the transition to digital business models by IT Services and BPO Companies, will be among the main drivers of M&A and financing activity in the Asia TMT (telecom, media, technology) sector in 2018, according to Amit Sinha, Managing Director, Global Head of TMT Corporate & Investment Banking, at DBS Bank.

“Increased adoption of public cloud across Asia is fuelling demand for significant growth in datacentre capacity. This is leading to innovative financing solutions to fund the growth and DBS expects this trend to continue across next two to three years,” Sinha commented. “DBS is working with both regional and global datacentre and cloud service providers to support their growth, by leveraging on loan markets as well as debt capital markets.”

Sinha will be leading the debate on TMT M&A and investment strategies for Asia at the upcoming TMT Finance Asia 2018 conference, which is taking place in Singapore on Feb 1, and gathers 200 of the region’s key senior executives from telecom, media and technology companies, private equity and venture capital firms, investment banks, law firms and advisory companies. http://www.tmtfinance.com/asia

Digital transformation, datacentre investment, cloud services, and BPO/ IT services are among the key themes to feature on this year’s TMT Finance Asia 2018 agenda – subsectors which Sinha believes will continue to drive deal and financing activity, alongside the more classic telecom and media M&A, and infrastructure-led transactions.

“Another trend we are seeing is the digital transformation which is taking place in IT Services and BPO companies, which is leading to consolidation and strategic partnerships. DBS is actively working with companies, financial sponsors and strategic players to facilitate this consolidation and transformation both as a financial adviser and financier,” said Sinha.

DBS is one of the main sponsors of TMT Finance Asia 2018, with Sinha chairing the Opening Leadership Panel, which features key C-level executives from Axiata Group, DTAC and AsiaSat, among others. Sinha will also join the Advisory Panel on the ‘Asia's Next TMT Titans Panel’, which will showcase five of Asia's most exciting disruptive digital businesses, who will highlight their growth plans to Sinha and the other expert TMT investment advisers.

Other key companies represented at the conference include: Axiata Group, Telstra, DTAC, I-Squared Capital, Indosat Ooredoo, Telkom Indonesia, Go-Jek, Sequoia, Goldman Sachs, Mediacorp, ONE Championship, Intelsat, edotco Group, ING, American Tower Corp, Moody’s, Sigfox, Bukalapak, Huawei, Alibaba Cloud, Bridge Data Centres, UBS and many others.
