Isabel Healthcare, Inc. Partners with Washington State University College of Nursing to integrate the Isabel Differential Diagnosis Generator into Curriculum
ANN ARBOR, Mich. (PRWEB) January 25, 2018 -- Isabel Healthcare, Inc (Isabel) announced today their partnership with Washington State University College of Nursing (WSUCON) to use the Isabel technology as one tool to assist Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) students bridge between didactic learning to clinical decision making. The surge in availability of reliable, trusted information to students and clinicians can support useful and timely decision making and it only makes sense to integrate the use of tools in the education of future clinicians.
The WSUCON has embraced technology to help improve clinical reasoning skills in DNP students. Students are being presented cases as part of their course content and use available technology like an EMR and the Isabel Differential Diagnosis Generator to assess cases, mimicking their future real-world patient interactions. They have access to the patient’s previous information available in the EMR as well during their assessment. The student will enter the relevant clinical features from the case into Isabel, where the student will also have access to other evidence-based resources. The Educational Capture feature allows the students to record their differential diagnosis, recommended tests, and other critical items related to the case etc. All the captured information is available for review and assessment by the instructor providing the opportunity for improving the clinical reasoning skills of the students.
“We have integrated Isabel’s Differential Diagnosis Generator into the early didactic coursework of the DNP curriculum. Isabel’s educational capture is allowing us to track students’ ability to generate differential diagnoses, to identify appropriate diagnostic tests, and to integrate electronic nomograms into practice decisions,” said Kenn B. Daratha, PhD, Associate Professor at the WSUCON.
“We are proud to be working with the Washington State University College of Nursing to help advance the clinical reasoning skills of students; using real-world technologies as part of the learning process helps prepare students for practice.” said Don Bauman, CEO of Isabel Healthcare.
