Accreditation creates new diverse-supplier qualification opportunities in public and private purchasing requirements

I believe we will have much success in the State of New York helping customers achieve diversity-spend goals. -- Kerma Medical Products President William “Joe” Reubel

Kerma Medical Products, Inc., an award-winning manufacturer and supplier of medical and non-medical products to both the public and private sectors, today announced that is has been duly certified as a Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) by New York State. The certification, issued by the New York State Minority and Women’s Business Development Division, became effective December 19, 2017 and remains valid for three years.

Collaboration with diverse suppliers is a key mandate in government agency and public healthcare systems. Commercial purchasing agents, too, seek out qualified minority businesses in meeting social responsibility directives. New York State requires all corporations operating in the state as well as those benefitting from state funding dedicate 30% of discretionary spending on certified suppliers. Fully federally funded facilities also must comply with the 30% state requirement. Finally, not-for-profit contractors, counties, and local governments must consider similar purchasing goals.

Kerma Medical Products is one of the largest diversity manufacturer/supplier companies in healthcare. The company also provides medical and non-medical products to the public sector. Under the New York State MBE certification, Kerma meets the requirements to do business with corporate and government entities as a minority business entity. The status applies to the complete Kerma product portfolio, including disposable washcloths, stethoscopes, blood pressure aneroids, thermometers, as well as small-capital equipment from companies such as Midmark, Pedigo, and Welch Allyn.

“Kerma is dedicated to bringing the best-possible solutions to our markets,” said Kerma Medical Products President William “Joe” Reubel. “Obtaining the Empire State Development Council – Division of Minority and Women’s Business Development certification is a great achievement and could only have been accomplished with the support of a great team. I believe we will have much success in the State of New York helping customers achieve diversity-spend goals.”
