Fantasy Football Team Owners Thank Todd Gurley for a Great Season by Donating More Than $40,000 to Shriners Hospitals for Children
TAMPA, Fla. (PRWEB) January 30, 2018 -- Thanks to the generosity of fantasy football team owners, more than $40,000 has been donated to Shriners Hospitals for Children® in honor of Los Angeles Rams running back Todd Gurley. The idea for donating was initiated on December 24 with a tweet from Las Vegas Review-Journal reporter Michael Gehlken. Gehlken shared a list of player names and the causes they support with the suggestion that fantasy football winners contribute some of their prize money as a thank you.
Gurley selected Shriners Hospitals for Children as his charity for the 2017 My Cause My Cleats campaign, where he wore custom-designed cleats featuring a Shriners Hospitals themed design during the Los Angeles Rams NFL game on Sunday, December 3, 2017. He was first introduced to the organization, a global leader in pediatric specialty health care, during a visit to the Chicago Shriners Hospital prior the 2015 NFL Draft.
"At Shriners Hospitals for Children, we treat kids regardless of the families' ability to pay, and this is only possible through the generosity of our donors," said Gary Bergenske, chairman of the Board of Directors for Shriners Hospitals for Children. "We are very grateful to all the fantasy football team owners and Todd Gurley who chose us to support."
