American University Introduces Online Master of Science in Counter-Terrorism and Homeland Security
Washington, D.C. (PRWEB) February 07, 2018 -- American University has introduced a new online graduate degree to help law enforcement and intelligence professionals wishing to specialize in various aspects of homeland security improve their preparation and career advancement. The new Master of Science in Counter-Terrorism and Homeland Security (MSCTHS) program is now enrolling for the first start date of May 7, 2018.
“The new MS in Counter-Terrorism and Homeland Security degree stands apart in providing law enforcement and intelligence professionals broad interdisciplinary skills along with a focused study of terrorism as a social phenomenon,” said Jennifer Gumbrewicz, Program Director, American University School of Public Affairs. “This academically rigorous, geographically flexible program supports their career goals while also offering practical instruction from leading professionals in the field and the benefit of American University’s strong D.C. ties to federal agencies.”
In the two-year, 36-credit online program, students learn how to develop strategic, policy-based security solutions at the national, federal, state, and local levels of government by building expertise in national security, intelligence, domestic and international law and policy, cyber security, and theories of political violence.
While federal roles are competitive and may take years to gain entry, American University’s program positions graduates well for opportunities at federal government agencies, intelligence communities, and other organizations in which these focused law enforcement, intelligence, and security skills are in high demand.
American University additionally leads all universities in producing graduates who are finalists for the distinguished Presidential Management Fellows program. The flagship two-year leadership development program in the federal government includes leadership training at a federal agency, a developmental assignment, and eligibility for full-time positions upon completion.
