Albany IT Symposium “Think Global, Act Local” Will Be Taking Place on April 25, 2018 At The Albany Marriott in Albany, New York
ALBANY, N.Y. (PRWEB) February 01, 2018 -- The Albany chapter of the Society for Information Management (SIM) announces the 5th Annual Albany IT Symposium is returning to the Albany Marriott on April 25, 2018. This is a one-day, executive-level event designed for CIOs and their management teams. There will be nearly 200 CIOs, VPs, Directors and Managers present at this year’s Symposium.
The Albany IT Symposium “Think Global, Act Local” is the Capital Region’s annual major gathering of leaders, professionals, and academics working in the I.T. field. As technology continues to redefine the boundaries of industries and replace markets’ traditional geographic regions with borderless digital environments, it has become essential for local organizations to be aware of the global trends in their sectors and implement strategies to integrate them into their operations in order to be able to stay agile and maintain their competitive edge. This year’s symposium will look at emerging I.T. trends and provide insights into innovative leadership skills in today’s fast-paced digital age. This interactive event will also provide attendees with opportunities to collaborate and share their knowledge and experiences through a series of panels, break-out sessions, and social media.
Harry Campbell, author, motivational speaker and 26+ year Executive will present the opening keynote “Get Real Leadership”. Reflecting back to time spent with one of his professional role models, Sam Walton, Harry S. Campbell takes the tenants of servant leadership and infuses them with his own business philosophies developed while working at Fortune 500 companies including Procter & Gamble (P&G) and Sprint, as well as smaller private companies. What results is an empowering and fresh approach to managing people and business that Campbell calls Get-Real Leadership.
Teresa Zielinski, Global CISO with GE Power will deliver the lunch keynote presentation. GE Power, a $28B business with 55,000 employees, is a world leader in power generation including gas/steam turbines and combined cycle plants, water technologies, distributed power, nuclear energy, and digital offerings.
Robert H. Samson, CIO, New York State Office of Information Technology Services will present the closing keynote for the day titled “Innovation that Matters…For all New Yorkers”. Prior to his appointment of CIO in April of 2017, Robert has had a rewarding 36-year career with IBM until August 2009 when he retired. While at IBM, he served in various leadership positions where he led teams focused on helping governments transform using innovative approaches and technologies. Mr. Samson has served as a member of the Governor’s Spending and Government Efficiency (SAGE) Commission and as a member of the SUNY Center for Technology in Government Advisory Board. Mr. Samson received a lifetime achievement award from Government VAR magazine and has been named one of the 100 most influential people in the technology industry.
In addition to the three keynotes, there will be 12 breakout sessions and panels throughout the day focused on security, data analytics, diversity in technology, machine learning, cloud computing, virtual reality, IT governance, managing information security risks and the latest technology products.
Jack Aernecke, retired News Anchor and Business-Technology reporter at WRGB-TV in Albany, will serve as the master of ceremonies.
