Walker Methodist Recognized for Innovative Approach to Serving Seniors
MINNEAPOLIS (PRWEB) February 11, 2018 -- Walker Methodist received the honors this week from LeadingAge Minnesota in front of 3,000 of their peers at the 2018 Institute. Along with 3 other awards, Walker Methodist is the inaugural recipient of the Award of Merit for Performance Excellence in Aging Services from LeadingAge Minnesota. The award recognizes a demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement and advancing performance excellence.

LeadingAge Minnesota created the Performance Excellence in Aging Services in 2017 to help aging services providers innovate and improve the quality services and supports they provide to older adults. The continuous learning and development program is centered on the core values and criteria of the Baldrige Performance Excellence Program, which focuses on seven areas of achievement and improvement demonstrated by high performing organizations – leadership, strategy, customers, measurement, workforce, operations and results.
Walker Methodist was also presented with two Stars Among Us Awards for unique integrative therapies. Embedded Music is used at the Health Center in Minneapolis where music heals and transforms difficult daily living tasks into enjoyable experiences. The Memory Care Artist of the Month at Highview Hills in Lakeville allows memory care residents to express their fine arts talents and uncover hidden emotions when learning and creating their own masterpieces.
Two team members from Care Suites of Edina Team were recognized. Marie Perrin was named District G Caregiver of the Year and Lakia Gordon graduated the LeadingAge Minnesota Leadership Academy, a development program designed to cultivate high potential, transformational leaders in the field of aging services.
Walker Methodist thought-leaders made presentations on the spirituality of empathy, creating a Parkinson’s fitness program, and culinary emergency preparedness.
