Berkowitz will present, “Can They Really Do That? What You Need to Know About Local Land Use Regulation,” Thursday, Feb. 8, 2018, from 1:30-2:15 p.m. The program will discuss local land use regulations that may impact how cemeteries can conduct their businesses. With nearly 30 years of experience representing clients in local land use issues throughout California, Berkowitz provides an insider’s perspective on how to navigate the local governmental process.
A shareholder in the firm’s real estate, land development, and land use practices, Berkowitz provides strategic, legal, business, and political advice to clients involved in the development of real property throughout California. She represents clients before government agencies in connection with land use approvals and compliance with the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), as well as related litigation arising from project challenges under land use regulations. Berkowitz is recognized for her ability to fully understand the unique business and political interests impacting her clients’ development projects, and use that knowledge to navigate the often competing interests of her clients, the community, and the governing authorities.
