"...It is nice to see and prove to the customer that the transition to a new system is simple and having a 100+ physician go-live within 30-days demonstrates that we have fine tuned our onboarding process to be as painless as possible.” said Clara Chandler, VP of Client Services

Medical Design Technologies (MDTECH), the market leader for charge capture technologies, announced today that Pacific Inpatient Medical Group, Inc. (PIMG) recently completed the implementation process of MD Coder 10 Charge Capture solution across their entire 100+ physician medical organization. Pacific Inpatient Medical Group implemented MDTECH’s MD Coder application as a vendor replacement application.
PIMG, a hospitalist specialty group based in San Francisco, California, provides support services to seven Sutter Health Campuses throughout Northern California. The group selected MD Coder in August of 2017 as a replacement to their existing charge capture vendor which had been serving them for the past decade. The successful implementation was measured by 100% adoption of the system in less than 30-days from the scheduled go-live and included multiple interfaces into EPIC for the inpatient census data as well as additional interfaces into their practice management billing system. In early December, the system went live with the Medical Directors of each campus and a few volunteer physicians. The entire group went live 2 weeks later with a total adoption across the entire enterprise on January 1, 2018.
Pacific Inpatient Medical Group evaluated MD Coder as a potential replacement for their current Charge Capture vendor. PIMG initiated the search as a simple way to discover what else was out there. They had been a legacy client of their existing vendor for over 10-years. They were looking for a company that had comparable technology, competitive pricing and a customer service model that would address the particulars of their enterprise through software customizations. MD Coder was selected after a thorough evaluation and was able to reduce their charge capture cost by over 30%. In addition to being competitively priced, MD Coder was able to easily win over providers and the trust of the hospital committee members when it was made apparent that MD Coder could comfortably address their charge capture needs with an intuitive application that was highly customizable and saved them additional time on daily rounds.
“There is always a hesitation and fear of moving to a new platform in healthcare. There is always resistance amongst the physicians and the administration. Even when the change makes all the sense in the world, the fear of the unknown and the comfort of the status-quo are always at odds with one another. The MDTECH team did an incredible job of settling our fears during their initial presentation. They did a tremendous amount of work prior to go-live. Once live their support team proved to be better than exceptional and have done a fantastic job in answering questions, problem solving and support. Clara Chandler and her team have allayed the fears and helped those who were hesitant to change and overcome their biases.” Chris Valentino, Practice Administrator.
“Since starting MDTECH we always noticed that massive disparity between available technology to consumers and its utilization within healthcare. Our goal was to bridge this gap by providing our end-users a flexible platform that services the nuances of each group. Over the years, we have continued to adopt and adapt to the ever-changing healthcare revenue cycle landscape. Adding the latest technology to speed things up for our users is a critical mission of our company. Adding value through at-cost interfaces and allowing our users to enjoy a massive return-on-investment (ROI) is critical to our success. With a competitive, value-based pricing model, our economics often resonate with the decision makers who choose MDTECH. We have a best of breed of product but what really sets us a part is a company that is transparent, obsessed with customer service and allows our end-users to save anywhere between 30% to 50% annually on their operating expenses as it relates to charge capture. I want MDTECH to have a legacy and part of that legacy is contributing to lowering healthcare costs through the use of our technology. We have succeeded with Pacific Inpatient Medical Group and we look forward to increasing our user base around the country.” said Damon Spiegel, CEO of MDTECH.
MDTECH first began working to interface seven hospital patient feeds into the MD Coder database. The real-time interface now supports multiple Davies Hospital locations, Santa Rosa Hospital, Novato Community Hospital, and several other campuses. In addition to the inpatient facilities, MD Coder is also seamlessly integrated with their billing system providing them a further decrease in charge lag. At any given time, 95% of their charges are already in the approved status and queued to be billed in the same day as the charges were captured. PIMG also required further customizations to suit their patient rounding workflow. “Customers are often afraid of change and even though the value of the transition is clearly identified there is always hesitation. It is nice to see and prove to the customer that the transition to a new system is simple and having a 100+ physician go-live within 30-days demonstrates that we have fine tuned our onboarding process to be as painless as possible.” said Clara Chandler, VP of Client Services.
