CCPG Awards Annual Responsible Gambling Certifications
TEMECULA, Calif. (PRWEB) February 09, 2018 -- The California Council on Problem Gambling (CCPG) has awarded annual responsible gambling silver certifications to two California casinos: the San Manuel Casino and the Pechanga Resort & Casino.
Certification is awarded to casinos that demonstrate a commitment to responsible gaming practices by participating in a comprehensive program, which is designed to lower the risk of players developing gambling problems and/or to provide help to those who do. The program includes a company-wide training a series of standards for their marketing practices and internal policies.
“More than one million adults in California will experience problems resulting from their gambling at some point in their lifetime,” says Robert Jacobson, the Executive Director of CCPG. “We applaud these casinos for working to create a healthier, safer atmosphere for their guests.”
CCPG also offers a heartfelt “THANK YOU” to its community of supporters, without whom it would not be able to provide many of the services it does! These supporters include the United Auburn Indian Community, the Barona Band of Mission Indians, the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians, the California Lottery, and the California Gaming Association.
Gambling addiction is a treatable disease, which manifests as the inability to control one’s gambling or the urge to gamble, despite harmful negative consequences or a desire to stop. If left untreated, it can have devastating consequences for the gambler (and the people around them), doing severe and sometimes irreparable harm to their finances, relationships, and mental and physical health.
The statewide helpline, 1-800-GAMBLER (or text ‘SUPPORT’ to 53342), is available 24/7/365, at no cost, and provides confidential crisis intervention and referral services in English, Spanish and Chinese, with translation services available for more than 240 languages and TTY for the hearing impaired. You can also chat with a counselor at http://www.800gambler.chat.
The state of California provides no-cost treatment programs for individuals affected by a gambling problem – either their own, or that of someone they know - through the California Gambling, Education and Treatment Services program (CalGETS), including one on one therapy, group therapy and intensive outpatient or residential treatment services. These services are available at NO COST, and information for accessing them is provided by the 1-800-GAMBLER helpline.
