Asymmetrik Named Winner of ONC’s Technical Competition
ANNAPOLIS JUNCTION, Md. (PRWEB) February 12, 2018 -- Asymmetrik Ltd., a Maryland-based software and analytics company, was named the sole winner of the Secure API Server Showdown Challenge. The competition, hosted by the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC), is designed to promote investment and engagement in secure FHIR servers, helping patients by simplifying access to health records.
Pronounced “fire”, FHIR stands for Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources. This emerging healthcare industry standards framework allows providers, payers and patients to aggregate, manage and share health data.
Ultimately, this means a better overall experience for patients. Many people have experienced the frustration of trying to access their health records, or having to fill out duplicate paperwork when seeing doctors who belong to different healthcare networks. Asymmetrik’s solution paves the way for patients to more easily move medical records between healthcare providers, access them using mobile apps, and share them with insurance companies, caretakers and loved ones.
Asymmetrik developed the winning secure FHIR server using Node.js, and the source code is publicly available via open source. Chief Technology Officer Amit Singh said of the announcement, “We are proud and honored to win ONC's Secure FHIR Challenge. Working with industry and partners to move the FHIR standard forward is important to us and we believe so much is possible with healthcare interoperability. We’re committed to improving the patient experience through technology."
