The Top U.S. Builders of 2017 Revealed: Proven by Data Collected by National Third-Party QA Inspection Company Quality Built, LLC
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (PRWEB) February 21, 2018 -- On January 9, 2018, Quality Built® (QB), the nation’s leading third-party quality assurance (QA) inspection and risk management solution provider for new construction, announced the Top U.S. Builders of 2017 at their annual QB Builder Awards ceremony.
Quality Built, established over 20 years ago, inspected over 3,500 homes in 2017, and in 2018 will have reached their one millionth home in their system. With the data their Field Consultant inspectors collect using their proprietary data collection app, QB Builder Link®, Quality Built looks for ways to improve the construction industry on both a macro and micro level. By pinpointing both positive and negative trends in the data they collect, they are able to make relevant changes to their inspection templates that will work to improve quality of construction for their builder partners.
"The handful of builders that were nominated should truly be proud of themselves. These builders clearly stand out amongst the crowd and are proving their commitment to quality construction based off of the data we collect" said Beth Michaelis, President & Co-Founder of Quality Built. "I look forward to the builder awards every year! This is why I do what I do. Together, we are able to provide homeowners with a safe home that has been built to last."
The QB Builder Awards recognizes builders that have raised the bar over the course of the year in their quality of construction for full-scope QA, high-rise and building envelope inspections. They also recognize builder’s who have improved in their Risk Assessment performance, are receptive to Technical Plan ReviewsTM, retain responsible superintendents, and encourage positive collaboration with QB to improve their program.
Of all of the builders enrolled in QB’s program, Utah builder, Holmes Homes took home the #1 award as the recipient of the 2017 Quality of Construction – Full-Scope QA Award. Holmes Homes is family owned and was established in 1890. They have been apart of QB’s program since 2004 and reflect a culture of quality from the executives down.
Holmes Homes is one of the many builders that have partnered with QB to benefit from their full-scope QA inspection services. This type of an inspection provides a great representative sampling of a builder’s overall quality, as they address high-risk components, including foundation, framing, exterior cladding, penetrations, MEP (mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems), roofing systems and more.
Of the two other Quality of Construction Awards, Taylor Morrison’s Found8tion project won the Building Envelope Award, and Pelican Builders’ The Wilshire project won the High-Rise Award. Both builders stood out amongst the rest of the builders in QB’s program in their execution and quality work.
For the Risk Assessment Award, there was a tie between award-winning builders, Beazer Homes for their Virginia division and Shea Homes® for their Trilogy® at Lake Norman community. This is because the nature of Risk Assessment inspections is customized to each builder’s unique needs and can vary based off of geographic region. Risk Assessments account for common construction risks based on a statistical sampling of various construction stages and systems for gauging and measuring the overall risk exposure associated with a builder
.
Next Generation Capital’s Calistoga project, Sondermann Enterprises, Inc.’s Portside Ventura Harbor project and Maracay Homes’ Villages at Rio Paseo project were the winners of the 2017 QB Technical Plan Review Awards. These builders understand that elimination of construction risk can begin with the architectural plans and must be addressed prior to the start of construction.
The winner of the QB Superintendent Award, was Colin Freeman, from Lennar’s Northern California division. Superintendents carry a major responsibility on their shoulders. If they are not communicating job safety, sticking to schedule, or actively working to establish accountability with their trade crew, the success of the build-out could be at stake.
According to Colin’s local Field Consultant, Steve Kostielney, “Colin is an attentive and proactive superintendent who is meticulous with his schedule and is truly committed to using our services to provide him with the maximum benefit. He always takes the time to talk with me before and after my inspections and he is always interested in hearing about the Open Items [anomalies] found during the inspections. Colin is committed to his job and is a true partner in quality assurance!”
The final award category, was the Collaboration Recognition Award. This did not only recognize QB’s forward thinking builder clients, but they also recognized a few of their business partners for working with them to develop successful programs in 2017. Meritage Homes and Toll Brothers worked with QB to help improve their QB Builder Link data collection app to promote efficiencies; and D.R. Horton Cambridge’s Customer Service Area Manager, Tom Tuhy led a successful internal QA inspection program.
QB’s business partner AmeriFirst Financial, Inc. worked with QB to grow their Green Value Mortgage program to deliver convenience and savings to environmentally-conscious builders, including reduced interest rates, lender fees and mortgage insurance costs. QB’s partner in quality assurance, The Holmes Group, established by Mike Holmes from HGTV, worked with QB to expand their Holmes Approved Homes program in the U.S. to provide elite builders with the ultimate inspection and marketing packages.
Through the QB Builder Awards, Quality Built will continue to push their builder partners to raise the bar in their performance and quality craftsmanship. Being a winner of one of the QB Builder Awards is not just an honor, it is a reflection of a builder’s commitment to delivering homes that homeowners can rely on and are built to last.
