RightMesh Acquires Stealth Startup Piperchain App
ZUG, SWITZERLAND (PRWEB) February 12, 2018 -- RightMesh AG announces today it has acquired the assets of stealth startup Piperchain developed by World Villages. Piperchain was pre-launch and had been described as a “Decentralized Twitter meets Instagram – a social networking app for use in developing countries where Internet infrastructure may be lacking or expensive.”
Piperchain was the first decentralized application for World Villages, a stealth startup created by Lucien Loiseau and former Open Garden Co-Founder, Chairman, and CEO, Micha Benoliel. Dr. Loiseau holds a Ph.D. in the field of wireless mesh networks during which he worked on optimizing the MAC layer using opportunistic retransmission to improve the efficiency of the forwarding process. He is currently involved in designing delay tolerant networks and routing protocols to spread data across disconnected communities. Development of the Piperchain app will be continued by the RightMesh applications team in Bangladesh and Dr. Loiseau will work with the RightMesh research and development teams in advancing the speed and performance of the RightMesh protocol and platform.
“Not only do we get access to a decentralized application that can incorporate the RightMesh protocol and has promise for emerging markets, this was also an acquihire of one of the smartest minds in the world in mesh networking and routing protocols,” says RightMesh CEO, John Lyotier. “Our strategy has always been, and will continue to be, to hire the best scientists and engineers in the world, regardless as to their present location. Lucien will be a great complement to our existing sciences team, consisting of Dr. Jason Ernst, RightMesh CTO and Chief Networking Scientist, Dr. Zehua (David) Wang, and dozens of other engineers and specialists. We are building something that has never been built before, and we’ll need some of the greatest minds on the planet to achieve our audacious mission.”
Dr. Loiseau will join the fast-growing RightMesh to help strengthen its world-leading technology platform and protocol and help it execute its mission of connecting the next billion users via an ad hoc mobile mesh network. The overarching mission of RightMesh is to connect the world using the combined power of mesh networks, blockchain technology, and tokenization. Using only the devices people already own, smartphones and IoT devices, RightMesh enables direct multi-hop, peer-to-peer connectivity via Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Direct, and Bluetooth functionality inherent in smartphones without the need for a central ISP. RightMesh mobile mesh networks are self-forming, self-healing and self-regulating and do not require Internet connectivity.
At the same time, Micha Benoliel will join the company as an Advisor to the RightMesh project while continuing to work on other IoT and decentralized endeavours, including California-based Nodle.io. As the former CEO and Co-founder of Open Garden and the creator of the peer-to-peer messaging app Firechat, Mr Benoliel brings great experience to the RightMesh team and will help identify talents and new market opportunities for RightMesh.
“We are thrilled to have the RightMesh team embrace and pursue the vision behind the Piperchain app to expand and enable access to information in the most challenging places on the planet while maximizing individual potentials,” says Micha Benoliel.

About RightMesh
RightMesh AG (a Swiss Company in incorporation), incubated by multi-award winning parent company Left, who itself is a certified B-Corporation located in Canada, is on a mission to bring connectivity to the next billion users by multiplying the combined power of blockchain, mesh networking, and its own mesh tokens. RightMesh wireless networks are self-forming, self-healing, and self-regulating, using various technologies in existing smartphones and IoT devices rather than relying on traditional infrastructure and Internet Service Providers. RightMesh’s networking technology was prototyped in a content-sharing and local messaging app called YO! which has received over 1 million installs and is actively used in emerging markets. Further applications are being developed via the RightMesh SDK, a free platform and protocol for use by others who want to build or retrofit additional mesh applications.
