Award-Winning Chemist Yolanda Laboy Joins Private Label Skin Research and Development Team

Thirty-year industry veteran and award-winning chemist Yolanda (“Yoly”) Laboy has joined the Research and Development Department at Private Label Skin, Inc. as its Formulation Chemist. Laboy brings with her extensive knowledge in the formulation, manufacturing and quality control of cosmetics across various categories, including color cosmetics, fragrance, skin, sun, hair and personal care products.

Most recently as Executive Director of Research and Development for Universal Beauty Products, Inc., Laboy has made a global impact on the cosmetics industry with positions at several high-profile brands, including Mary Kay, Revlon, L’Oreal, Estée Lauder, Neutrogena and BASF.

“Yoly’s name is synonymous with innovation in the beauty market,” said Eric Pogue, CEO of “Her exceptional experience and expertise will be a tremendous asset to Private Label Skin. We look forward to continued company growth and are excited about introducing new and enhanced products to customers under her leadership.”

Born and raised in Puerto Rico, Laboy earned a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry from Catholic University of Puerto Rico. An early success, she was named “Salesperson of the Year” by Walgreens at only 16-years-old for her exceptional work at the cosmetics counter. Having identified her passion, she later moved onto chemist positions with Revlon and Estée Lauder before joining Mary Kay, where her development of an encapsulation technology for lip and eye care lead to a patent and millions in sales.

In addition to her work with major cosmetic brands, Laboy owned her own business, YLB Technologies, LLC, where she was a clinical testing services representative for Allergisa. She also was co-owner of EPOCH Cosmetic Research and Manufacturing, LLC, a consulting company specializing in the formulation of color cosmetics, skin care and spa products, as well as manufacturing, regulatory affairs and quality systems. Since then, she has contributed to new product development, product diversification and training young chemists in color formulation for such companies as Autumn Harp, Product Quest LLC and Universal Beauty Products.
