LRS Gryphon JV Awarded Worldwide Contract for Oil Spill Response Training
PASADENA, Md. (PRWEB) February 15, 2018 -- LRS Federal, a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB), has been awarded a prime contract by The Naval Facilities (NAVFAC) Expeditionary and Engineering Warfare Center (EXWC) to provide Oil Spill Response Training. This contract is designed to provide on-site instruction for oil spill response at Navy and Marine Corps facilities worldwide. The training is designed to simulate real scenarios so students are prepared to respond quickly and appropriately should an actual event occur. The three courses covered by this contract are: Facility Response Plan (FRP) Training, Spill Management Team (SMT) Training, and New Skimmer Training.
1. FRT Training – This course is designed to teach management skills for oil spill response and how to successfully deploy, operate, and maintain a variety of oil response systems and equipment.
2. SMT Training - The course gives students a practical understanding of their roles on the SMT and provides them with the knowledge to maintain an effective oil spill response program, utilizing a tabletop exercise to simulate various spill incidents.
3. New Skimmer Training – This type of training will be used when a Navy or Marine Corps Facility Response Team (FRT) receives a new oil skimmer vessel, to ensure FRT personnel have the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively operate the new skimmer and to teach others to effectively operate it.
“As a former naval officer, I know how important it is to have highly trained and rapidly deployable support personnel to respond to an incident. We are extremely pleased to be working with NAVFAC on this contract and look forward to training Navy and Marine Corps personnel to enhance safety and establish environmentally sound response techniques. We are committed to the Navy’s mission and look forward to building a strong relationship and providing expert services at naval facilities worldwide,” said Sean Logan, LRS Federal’s CEO.
