SIG announces new digital credential program for sharing SIG-related achievements

These new digital badges encourage learning and recognize and promote valuable skills and achievements demonstrated through SIG, SIG University and Outsource Magazine.

SIG, the premier membership organization for sourcing, procurement and outsourcing executives, today announces the launch of a digital badging program, thanks to a partnership with Acclaim, an award-winning digital professional recognition platform backed by Pearson.

“We are thrilled to offer our past Summit speakers, advisory board members and other knowledge contributors a digital way to showcase their achievements via social media and to demonstrate to their employers a commitment to continuous learning and the sharing of best practices,” said Liz Mantovani, senior manager of innovation, SIG. “The badges also help SIG University graduates showcase the certifications they hold, as well as allow employers to recruit and hire the right talent faster and at a lower cost.”

Digital badges are web-enabled versions of credentials that can be shared online. They provide labor market insights that relate skills to jobs and are trusted as a method for real-time credential verification.

“One of SIG’s primary goals is to create a culture of continuous learning, with flexible and open approaches to support different learning styles,” says Mark Pollack, chief strategy officer, SIG. “These new digital badges encourage learning and recognize and promote valuable skills and achievements demonstrated through SIG, SIG University and Outsource Magazine.”

Once earned, digital badges can be shared on social networking sites, email signatures, digital résumés and internal corporate profiles or websites. The metadata underlying the digital badge provides secure and credible evidence of the qualifications and related timing for earning that credential.
