The Broadmoor Hosts 10th Annual Rally For The Cure
(PRWEB) February 16, 2018 -- The Broadmoor hosts the 10th Annual Rally for the Cure tennis and Pickleball weekend, June 8 – 10, 2018. Sponsored by The Broadmoor Jewelry Company and Roberto Coin, proceeds raised go directly to Susan G. Komen in the fight against breast cancer.
In conjunction with The Broadmoor’s 100th Anniversary, this is the event’s 10th year being held at the Broadmoor Tennis Club and is the largest tennis-related Rally event in the country. The weekend features women’s doubles, mixed doubles, and Pro-Am Day for tennis, mixed doubles, women’s doubles, men’s doubles for Pickleball and several social functions. The stakes are high this year, with female winners in every category receiving a Roberto Coin tennis or Pickleball necklace, valued at $980 each.
A field of more than 100 men and women compete over the three-day event; beginning with the multi-level women’s doubles competition and men’s & women’s Pickleball competition on Friday, June 8. Players and guests take a break mid-day to enjoy a luncheon featuring a keynote speaker and remarks from inspiring breast cancer survivors. The day concludes with an après tennis cocktail event for all tournament competitors in the new Broadmoor Jewelry Company, featuring Roberto Coin.
Saturday, June 9 is Mixed Doubles Day with play beginning at 8:30 am. Multi-level competition continues through the day with a light sandwich buffet at noon. The day’s activities culminate with the Center Court Slam Gala, a seated dinner in The Broadmoor’s Cheyenne Lodge featuring live and silent auctions and a live band for dancing. Tennis pros will be auctioned off to the top-bidding amateurs for their entry into Sunday’s Pro-Am event. Dinner features fabulous food and libations provided by the hotel’s fine culinary staff.
Pro-Am Day and Brunch on Sunday, June 10 begins at 9 am. This event features twelve top pros from around the West paired with amateur players. The pros will be auctioned off to play with the amateurs during the Live Auction at Saturday night’s Gala. Spectators are encouraged to attend the Pro-Am for a $20 donation to Komen and may also attend the court-side brunch for an additional $10 (advanced reservations for the brunch required).
Pickleball is one of the fastest growing sports in the country. Played on a court smaller than tennis, using a solid paddle and a ball similar to a wiffle ball, this sport combines elements of badminton and tennis. Doubles and mixed doubles play at the intermediate and open levels will be featured in the Rally for the Cure.
Special “Early Bird” prices are available for all participants until March 30th. Final registration for is open until May 20th. Prices before April 1st range from $75 to $199 per player, depending on the number of events entered. Non-players may attend social events on an a la carte basis. Friday’s luncheon is $60 per person. Saturdays’ Center Court Slam Gala dinner is $125 per person or $200 per couple. Amateurs wishing to bid on pros for the Pro-Am tournament must attend Saturday evening’s event to be eligible.
