Pharma Botanica transforms medicinal plants in their natural habitat to plant-based supplements sold with several online retailers, the latest of which is health and wellness ecommerce site Go4ItNutrition.com.

Extracting chemical compounds from plants inadvertently removes buffering components, such as cellulose, vitamins and minerals. It changes the natural balance of the plant’s components, causing desired compounds to be less bioavailable.

Pharma Botanica transforms medicinal plants in their natural habitat to plant-based supplements sold with several online retailers, the latest of which is health and wellness ecommerce site Go4ItNutrition.com.

Melissa and Paul Gribble co-founded the company in Australia about 18 years ago, creating herbal supplements that address the cause of ailments rather than just the symptoms. They first developed Enhancer — Pharma Botanica’s most popular feminine product — used to treat pre-menstrual tension, menstrual cramps and dysmenorrhea, menopause, acne and more. Melissa Gribble found that plants could be used to augment women’s hormonal imbalances, a root of many feminine problems.

“Most products that claim to be all-natural are far from it. Pharma Botanica uses whole medicinal plants, or whole herbs and not extracts, that are slowly dried and encapsulated, without adding any synthetic chemicals or agents like solvents, yeast, sugar, lactose and gluten,” Melissa Gribble said. “The result is products that address the cause of health issues rather than symptoms. Pharma Botanica can be the beginning of your natural health journey.”

Pharma Botanica believes isolating particular chemicals from plants to use in medicine is not as beneficial as using the whole plant. Its philosophy derives from the idea that plants and humans share similar DNA; so using the whole plant is more effective toward treating ailments. Individual chemicals from the plant are required in heavier doses to achieve less therapeutic benefits.

“Extracting chemical compounds from plants inadvertently removes buffering components, such as cellulose, vitamins and minerals,” Melissa Gribble said. “It changes the natural balance of the plant’s components, causing desired compounds to be less bioavailable. Whole herbs give you a smaller amount of healing substances, but are more effective than using higher dosages of concentrated chemicals.”

Whole botanicals and herbal medicines are among the fastest-growing supplement categories in the United States, posting a sales increase of nearly 8 percent for 2016, the 13th consecutive year of growth in the U.S.

Pharma Botanica supplements include Alleraide for allergy sufferers; Bones & Teeth for calcium absorption and kidney support; Enhancer for female hormone balance; Eyes Bright for eye health; Heart Mate for cardiovascular health; Liver Mate for digestive health; Memory Mate for improved cognitive function and blood circulation; MSM Alive for increased energy and mobility; Stop Snoring Spray for better breathing; and Stress Guard for better sleep and relaxation.
