Southport Services Group, a business intelligence and IT consulting company, announced today that it has been awarded a MicroStrategy Partner Award for Best Project. MicroStrategy® Incorporated (Nasdaq: MSTR) is a leading worldwide provider of enterprise analytics and mobility software. The award was announced at the MicroStrategy World™ 2018 conference in Las Vegas.

MicroStrategy Partner Awards recognize key business partners for working with MicroStrategy to support customers and to help maximize the value of their BI applications. Winners were selected from Product, Solution, and Project categories based on achievement of qualitative and quantitative business value of their applications. Southport won Best Project award for its delivery of a transformative mobile analytics application that provides real-time, easily accessed, intuitive analytics for nearly 3,500 pharmaceutical representatives, managers, and leaders at Merck, a global pharmaceutical company. The application is called GATOR.

Prior to GATOR’s launch, field sales teams spent countless hours analyzing data and spreadsheets culled from a 1990’s platform. The legacy reporting tool was slow to provide results, visually unappealing, relied on manual processes and as a result was vastly underutilized. Representatives needed an intuitive, fast, mobile analytics app that allowed its field team to quickly assess their business, identify opportunities and risks, and allow them to spend more time in front of customers selling.

Using MicroStrategy’s enterprise intelligence platform, Southport worked with Merck to build an application that immediately increased the business acumen of the field. Monthly user utilization exceeds 90% of field employees, up nearly 3x compared to utilization of the legacy tools. From vice presidents to managers to sales representatives, performance data is readily available, easy to access, and based on a single version of the truth. Field representatives and managers now spend more time in front of customers and less time performing manual analytics.
