Global culinary apparel leader will be the preferred provider for CBG

The movie-going experience is changing, and the look of cinema employees is changing with it.

Chef Works Inc., a global leader in culinary and hospitality apparel, has partnered with Washington D.C.-based Cinema Buying Group to become their preferred apparel provider.

Representing more than 400 independent movie theaters, Cinema Buying Group, a semi-autonomous buying program of the National Association of Theatre Owners (NATO), recognized the need for high-end, fashion-forward apparel as the “dine-in” concept becomes a priority for theaters nationally.

“The movie-going experience is changing, and the look of cinema employees is changing with it,” said Chef Works’ Vice President of Sales Marc Batten. “We’re excited for this partnership because it opens up new opportunities for Chef Works while participating theatres get high-quality apparel that is polished, durable and fashion-forward.”

Chef Works continues to be at the vanguard of culinary apparel as the industry moves beyond traditional arenas of restaurants, diners and bars. The Chef Works brand is well established in spas, hotels, cafés, assisted living and numerous other avenues of hospitality. A natural partnership between CBG and Chef Works seemed inevitable as traditional cinemas bloom into full-service, dine-in facilities.

“The Cinema Buying Group-NATO, is very pleased to announce another quality member program with the capacity and offerings to serve the entirety of our membership,” said CBG Purchasing Director Brad Wardlow. “Chef Works is an extremely well-respected apparel partner with focus across a wide spectrum of quality team/employee apparel capabilities. The CBG-NATO and Chef Works partnership will meet the most basic uniform needs of our members all the way through to the more complex apparel needs of full-service restaurants, dine-in cinemas and bars. This partnership is a great representation of the Cinema Buying Group-NATO’s dedication to the evolving needs of our members.”

Established in the 1960s when Joseph Gross founded a small uniform company in South Africa, Chef Works has evolved into a global force as a solutions-based company, supplying culinary apparel to more than 70 countries. Chef Works dresses back of house and waitstaff for a diverse range of customers including international hotel chains, award-winning restaurants and bars, culinary schools, food service companies, laundries, assisted living facilities and cinemas. The family-owned-and-operated business has helped pave the way for the current culinary uniform movement by working directly with chefs and culinary personnel to develop innovative, fashion-forward garments.

Cinema Buying Group-NATO, a semi-autonomous buying program of the National Association of Theatre Owners (NATO), is a group of over 400 independent movie theater companies formed to combine the buying capacity of the membership for purposes of: securing volume discounts and competitive pricing and/or terms across a broad spectrum of relevant and vital products and services; offering enhanced promotion and merchandising of movies and concessions; developing strategic relationships with manufacturers and suppliers by offering cost-saving products or services that can be passed on to members that elect to buy; and ultimately providing greater access to available opportunities for the member companies. CBG-NATO also serves as a vehicle for industry manufacturers and suppliers to partner with this important and vital membership in ways that can offer meaningful upside to both the supportive vendor partners and participating CBG-NATO members.
