In author Frank Catanzano’s new thriller, “Prey to the Lord: A Detective John Bello Novel” (published by iUniverse), a detective must put aside his moral qualms of protecting pedophiles when a religious zealot begins murdering members of a pedophile organization. Learn more about Catanzano’s fourth novel from the author himself at

Fronting as a charity made up of clerics intended to mentor the disadvantaged, Empowering Children is in reality an illicit organization made up of pedophiles who want to have sex with children and trade child pornography. A vigilant zealot, who believes he has been chosen by God, has recently taken it upon himself to put a stop to these crimes by killing its members. It is up to Detective John Bello to unravel the specially encrypted membership information so that he can arrest and protect them before the serial killer could locate and murder them in the “Name of the Lord.”

Catanzano touches upon a number of pressing themes in the novel, such as the prevalence of child molestation within organized religion and the lengths to which religious groups will go to hide and protect sexual predators. In particular, Catanzano hopes the book will encourage readers to reflect on the actions taken by the Catholic Church to protect its leaders and real-life pedophile advocacy organization North American Man/Boy Love Association.

The author explains he first learned about abuses within the church from his cousin, who “committed suicide after the Catholic Diocese here in Pittsburgh discontinued the funding of his psychological treatments.” Now, Catanzano hopes to cast a light on perpetrators to help protect children from sexual violence.
