Calling All Bartenders for the Tío Pepe Challenge Last Chance to Submit Cocktail Recipe for NYC Finals

Bartenders have until Friday, March 2 to submit their best Sherry cocktails using Tío Pepe for the 2018 Tío Pepe Challenge. Six finalists will be selected from the top cocktail recipe entries and flown to New York City to compete for a chance to represent the U.S. at the 5th Annual Tío Pepe Challenge International Final this May in Jerez, Spain.

The 2018 Tío Pepe Challenge has come to the U.S. for the first time in its history, and bartenders have until Friday, March 2 to submit their best Sherry cocktails using Tío Pepe. The competition’s sponsor, Tasting Panel Magazine, will select six finalists from the top cocktail recipe entries and host the winners in New York City to compete on March 20, for a chance to represent the U.S. at the 5th Annual Tío Pepe Challenge International Final this May in Jerez, Spain.

The Tío Pepe Challenge competition and cocktail presentation finals will take place at the famed Leyanda bar in Brooklyn, NY on March 20 and will be open to the public. Julie Reiner and Ivy Mix of Leyenda will judge alongside Mixologist Zane Harris and González Byass Brand Ambassador Alvaro Plata.

The winner will go on to compete at the Tío Pepe Challenge International Final, held in Jerez, Spain, during the world famous Feria de Jerez in May 2018. The top 14 selected bartenders from around the world will compete and battle it out live in front of a panel of renowned, international experts and be tested on their knowledge of Sherry, the use of a venencia and, of course, their ability to make delicious and innovative Sherry cocktails.

The Tío Pepe Challenge allows aspiring Sherry experts to test their knowledge about this wonderful fortified wine. The contest is open to all U.S. bartenders and is an opportunity to find out about the variety and scope that Sherry has to offer.
