The Tenth Annual Information Security Summit [#SummitX], hosted by ISSA-LA, the Los Angeles chapter of ISSA, is scheduled to take place on May 2nd - May 4th at the Universal City Hilton in Southern California. This elite event, headlined by 2 keynote speakers - Robert Herjavec and Marcus Ranum - also offers several interactive tracks, leadership forums, and four on-site training sessions. Given its long track record of successfully driving meaningful conversations around information security, privacy, technology, and diversity, this year's event will certainly keep with the tradition of attracting an audience upwards of 1,000, comprised of the country's top public and private sector leaders.
"The Los Angeles region has been surging, and "Silicon Beach" is now the place to go for the best speakers in the country," says Richard Greenberg, President, ISSA Los Angeles. "And don't forget about the excellent and heavily discounted one and two-day training classes that are being offered this year. World renown trainers Jim Manico, Kevin Cardwell, and Aaron Guzman will be sharing their expertise with the attendees."
Robert Herjavec, a leading shark on ABC's Emmy Award-winning television series Shark Tank and Founder & CEO of the Herjavec Group, is slated to speak as the opening keynote at 8:25 AM on May 4, 2018. In 2003 Robert founded Herjavec Group, and it quickly became one of North America's fastest growing technology companies. Today, Herjavec Group is a global leader in information security specializing in managed security services, consulting, delivery and incident response for enterprise-level organizations. Robert's ability to interpret industry trends and understand enterprise business security demands has helped him achieve the profile of a global cybersecurity expert. He has served as a Cybersecurity Advisor for the Government of Canada, participated in the White House Summit on Cybersecurity and recently joined the US Chamber of Commerce Task Force for Cybersecurity. His views on the threat landscape, on emerging technologies and on the need for a proactive security framework are regularly profiled across print, digital and television mediums.
Marcus J. Ranum, a world-renowned expert on security system design and implementation, is slated to speak at the closing keynote at 5:45 PM on May 4, 2018. He is recognized as an early innovator in firewall technology, and the implementer of the first commercial firewall product. Since the late 1980's, he has designed a number of groundbreaking security products including the DEC SEAL, the TIS firewall toolkit, the Gauntlet firewall, and NFR's Network Flight Recorder intrusion detection system. He has been involved in every level of operations of a security product business, from developer, to founder and CEO of NFR. Marcus has served as a consultant to many FORTUNE 500 firms and national governments, as well as serving as a guest lecturer and instructor at numerous high-tech conferences. In 2001, he was awarded the TISC "Clue" award for service to the security community, and the ISSA Lifetime Achievement Award. Marcus is Chief of Security for Tenable Security, Inc., where he is responsible for research in open source logging tools, and product training. He serves as a technology advisor to a number of start-ups, established concerns, and venture capital groups.
