Eagle Nest Golf Club Welcomes Jim Kane as Director of Golf Operations
LITTLE RIVER, SC (PRWEB) March 02, 2018 -- Eagle Nest Golf Club would like to congratulate Rick Moran on his retirement and commend him for his steadfast commitment to the club, customers, and traditions. With concentration on great customer service and providing the best golfing experience, we have been fortunate to have Rick at the helm over the last 5 years. The club is extremely happy for Rick and wishes him all the best on the next chapter. Jim Kane will be taking over the Director of Golf Operations & Revenue Manager position and has hit the ground running. Prior to coming to Eagle Nest, Jim was the Director of Golf at The Country Club of South Carolina in Florence, SC and is a class “A” PGA member and has been in the area since 2010. “Our continued goal is to provide the best golfing experience in the Carolina’s.” With the addition of new “Teal” forward tees and U.S. Kids tees, we have a great selection for players of all abilities that makes Eagle Nest Golf Club the most player friendly course in the Carolina’s. The new additional tees have provided excellent options for seniors, super seniors, ladies, and juniors to enjoy the beautifully landscaped golf course.
The new “Perch Tees” have been constructed and Eagle Nest Golf Club is now the longest golf course in South Carolina and one of the longest in the nation, beating out the previous South Carolina champion The Ocean Course at Kiawah by a couple hundred yards. The new teeing grounds allow the course to stretch over 8,100 yards at its longest point, which will also bring the new Course Rating to 78.1 and Slope Rating to 143. The new tips were constructed to resemble eagle’s nests with elevation and ornamental grasses that lends the appropriate “Perch tee” name. “There’s an opportunity at Eagle Nest to push yardages over 8,100 yards. We feel we can add a lot of distance to the golf course and make it a true championship layout. The new golfer wants to play a championship course and distance is important.”
The agronomy staff at Eagle Nest has been busy with upgrades taking place on the entire course. Gene Blanton, Course Superintendent, has been in business of building and making courses shine for over 50 years, and his newest projects are no exception. A state of the art irrigation system has been put in place and drainage throughout the course has been completely replaced to ensure the best playing surfaces available. A variety of landscape enhancements have been installed to show off the natural beauty of the course, which allows wild turkeys, deer, native grasses, and grape vines to flourish on this stunning property. In addition to all the improvements that have taken place, cart paths and bunkers will soon begin the process of being replaced to complete this large renovation. Each renovation has been made with the intent to make Eagle Nest a must play golf course while visiting in the Carolina’s.
Eagle Nest continues to be a family owned golf course, originally opened in 1971 by former State Senator Dick Elliott who passed in June 2014. The course is still owned by the Elliott family, Senator Elliott’s wife Anne and son Rick. “We want to improve upon the reputation and add to the good things my dad did,” Elliott said. “We are committed to focus on excellent conditions and customer service to provide a championship golf experience to players of all abilities.” Eagle Nest boasts one of the toughest three-hole finishes on the Strand, with the 449-yard par-4 16th, 616-yard par-5 17th and 185-yard par-3 18th over water and a front bunker. That stretch will be even more difficult with the lengthening of the final two holes. The 18th has become a 240-yard par-3.
