New Personal-Growth Book Discusses Modifying Behavior with ‘The Pono Principle’
WAILEA, Hawaii (PRWEB) February 28, 2018 -- Robert DeVinck’s debut book, “The Pono Principle: Doing the Right Thing in All Things” (published by Balboa Press), incorporates the Hawaiian philosophy of Pono that emphasizes a transcendence beyond the limited scope of binary, dualistic thinking to a place of mutual benefit for you, others and the planet.
At the age of 42, DeVinck nearly died of stage 4 Hodgkin’s Disease. At 57, he almost lost his wife, and relationships with his children, due to his alcoholism. DeVinck shares that by changing his behavior – by eating right, exercising, working in addiction recovery and caring more for others – was he able to save his life and his loved ones. Practicing the Pono Principle made that transformation possible.
Pono is the Hawaiian philosophy of doing the right thing in all areas of life, DeVinck explains. The Pono Principle is a way of modifying how one thinks and acts in daily life. He says, “It is a way of transcending from making inconsequential decisions (just doing “some” thing), to taking powerful action steps (doing the next “right” thing) that are mutually beneficial, and right, for us and for our planet.”
DeVinck intends for the book to appeal to anyone who has struggled with one or more addictions and people “who wish to become more compassionate, tolerant, joyful, peaceful and purposeful in life.” DeVinck states, “It was written so that others may find their true potential in life.”
