Integration and physical deployment implemented by Gemalto Colombia SA

CMITech Company, a leader in cost effective, high performance iris recognition systems, announced today that the Company’s highly innovative EF-45 iris recognition system was successfully deployed in the newly launched BIOMIG program under the auspices of Migración Colombia. BIOMIG is an automated border control program (ABC) for trusted travelers, and utilizes the EF-45 on the automated eGate passenger control lanes as well as at enrollment stations.

CMITech partnered with Gemalto Colombia SA, the prime contractor, system integrator and solution provider for this project. The BIOMIG program was launched to the public in December 2017.

The EF-45 is an integrated iris recognition terminal that features a highly intuitive user experience that displays the user’s face on a high resolution 5.0 inch touch screen display during positioning. Compared to previous positioning technologies, such as mirror and LED systems, face display positioning will provide superior user ease of use, sometimes called usability or convenience. User positioning is highly intuitive, making it ideal for all subjects including those with limited device familiarity.

“We are highly pleased to have been selected as the biometrics technology partner for this program,” said Dr. JJ Chae, CEO of CMITech. “Migración Colombia’s BIOMIG program marks a milestone in the use of iris biometrics in an automated, expedited immigration control application. Their choice of a fast and highly intuitive iris recognition system as the core biometrics capture device will provide outstanding user acceptance as well as the superior accuracy that only iris recognition can deliver.”
