The Mendez National Institute of Transplantation Foundation Launches PSA to Raise Awareness During March National Kidney Disease Awareness Month
(PRWEB) March 01, 2018 -- According to the National Kidney Foundation, 1 in 3 Americans are at risk for chronic kidney disease (CKD). Kidney disease causes more deaths than breast cancer or prostate cancer and is the 9th leading cause of death in the U.S. It is estimated that 30 million people in the U.S. are affected but 90% of those with kidney disease don’t even know they have it as one may not have signs or symptoms.
The Mendez National Institute of Transplantation Foundation (MNITF) is a public non-profit organization founded in 1994 that adheres to its mission of advancing the science and practice of organ transplantation and end-stage organ disease therapies through research, education, and innovation.
During March’s National Kidney Month and April’s National Donate Life Month, MNITF is spreading kidney disease prevention and organ donation awareness with their “Get the Facts! Get Checked! Get Healthy!” PSA, available in :15, :30 and :60 second versions.
The “Get the Facts! Get Checked! Get Healthy!” PSA features Paul Rodriguez and Gloria Garayua, the stars of MNITF’s multi-award-winning patient education series Fixing Paco. The PSA delivers a strong call-to-action about kidney disease prevention and the need for organ donation.
The Fixing Paco “edutainment” web series helps educate patients with kidney failure and their families about the treatment option of kidney transplantation, how to access transplantation, how to be proactive in healthcare, and what they need to know about living donation. The Fixing Paco PSA Campaign is an expansion incorporating kidney disease awareness and prevention and organ donation awareness to reach the general public.
