North America's Power Generation Sector Is Coming to Nashville
HOUSTON (PRWEB) March 05, 2018 -- Nashville will host the 20th ELECTRIC POWER Conference and Exhibition from March 19-22 at the Gaylord Opryland Convention Center. The Tennessee Valley Authority is host utility and will welcome an estimated 3,000 attendees and 200 exhibitors.
The conference is one of North America's premiere gatherings of professionals from across the power generation sector, including renewables, nuclear, and fossil generation.
"This is the first time ELECTRIC POWER has convened in Nashville, and we have been delighted with the welcome we have received as we hold our 20th annual conference and exhibition," said Jamie Reesby, show director. "TVA is an exceptional host utility, and is making several of its top executives available for some of our highest-profile sessions."
Among the TVA executives taking part:
TVA CEO Bill Johnson will take part in a panel session to talk about economic drivers impacting the power sector. He will be joined by senior officials from the U.S. Department of Energy's Energy Information Administration, international insurance giant Swiss Re, and analytics firm Industrial Info Resources. The session takes place Monday, March 19 from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
On Tuesday morning, March 20, Joe Grimes, TVA's Executive Vice President of Generation, will offer keynote remarks on the growth of non-utility power generation technologies–such as rooftop solar–in the Tennessee Valley, and operational challenges those resources may present. The keynote session is from 9 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
Immediately after the March 20 keynote, at 9:30 a.m., TVA's Executive Vice President of Operations Mike Skaggs joins other utility executives in a roundtable discussion that looks at the impact the increased use of natural gas in power generation is having on the power sector. Mr. Skaggs is joined by Paul Bowers, President and CEO of Georgia Power, and John Hefford, Vice President of Regional Operations for Canada-based Ontario Power Generation.
