The U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) has awarded ASRC Federal Space and Defense (AS&D) the Aerospace Systems Technical Research and Operations Services (ASTROS) contract. The contract has an estimated value of over $200 million and work will be performed at Edwards Air Force Base in California.
As part of the contract, AS&D will provide test and evaluation and operational support services that are essential to the future of the Air Force’s rocket engines used to propel the Nation’s launch vehicle fleet and reduce dependence on foreign rocket propulsion technology.
“I am honored that AS&D has been selected for this new opportunity to support the AFRL and its vital mission in advancing our Nation’s rocket propulsion technologies,” said Mark Gray, ASRC Federal president and CEO. “We have brought together a team of propulsion professionals with the experience and expertise required to design, construct and modify AFRL’s rocket test facilities and systems, and to safely perform test operations.”
