“13 Kings” is the creation of published author, Herman Eaker. Herman was born and raised in the same small West Texas town he lives in today. He has been married for thirty-two years to his first love. They have three grown children. Herman has always had an old soul and, therefore, naturally connects with the older generation. He travels for a living, so he meets a lot of people with all kinds of stories. He absolutely loves Lord Jesus Christ. When he started seeking Him, true to His word, he found Him. It changed the simple things he wanted in life. The things that shined so bright for the twenty-year-old Herman are now strangely dim to the fifty-three-year-old Herman. He has been around just long enough to understand why those old men did not believe seemingly important things were important.
“Paul is one of those old men you see every day but don’t really see. Meeting him is the epitome of the lesson to not judge a book by its cover. Paul told me the story you are about to read, and I witnessed things that he said and did firsthand, and I can’t explain all of them, maybe none of them. Maybe just the babblings of a mind going senile. After all the research into the Thirteen Kings I did, I doubt that very much, and after you read this and if you come to the same conclusions I did, I doubt you will think that either.” --Herman Eaker
Published by Christian Faith Publishing, Herman Eaker’s new book is based on a true story. Paul was just an unassuming ninety-two-year-old man who happened to live in a little cabin that was part of a trailer park where author Herman Eaker was staying for work. One boring day, Herman decided to introduce himself to his seemingly boring neighbor. By chance, their conversation prompted Paul to retrieve an old wooden box. The box was no work of art and it contained mostly old, mundane junk, but there was one treasure inside.
Inside that plain box of that modest, boring old man was a folded up piece of paper. It had been in Paul’s family for generations. Paul tried to have the foreign words on the note translated forty-five years earlier. All he learned was that the note talked about a king and the number thirteen. As Paul reveals the story behind the letter, Herman Eaker sets out on a search for answers.
