Gray Whale Encounters Dramatically Rise Preceding the 47th Annual Dana Point Festival of Whales
DANA POINT, Calif. (PRWEB) March 02, 2018 -- An increase in gray whale sightings (75%, February) so close to the 47th Annual Dana Point Festival of Whales this March has garnered enthusiasm from whale experts and naturalists who expect to see larger numbers of locals and visitors this year. During the two-weekend festival held every March, residents and visitors celebrate the migration of Gray Whales and other marine wildlife with ocean-themed activities and presentations emphasizing education and environmental responsibility. This year the Festival will be held March 3, 4, 10, and 11, 2018.
Since Dana Point arguably offers the best whale watching and dolphin watching excursions in Orange County, The Festival of Whales has been drawing whale and dolphin enthusiasts from across Southern California to enjoy a variety of family events that are fun, educational, and ocean-themed.
Captain Dave Anderson, owner of Capt. Dave's Dolphin & Whale Watching Safari, offering dolphin and whale watching excursions year round, will present ENTANGLED WHALES: WHAT CAN WE DO?, Saturday, March 10th at the OC Sailing and Events Center, from 2:00pm - 3:00pm. Festival attendees will view never-seen-before rescue footage and drone video, see the special equipment that is used to entangle whales and learn how to make a difference and help whales.
Captain Dave’s Under the Sea Eco Carnival will feature fun activities for the whole family, from bounce houses, face painting and selfie stations to Underwater Viewing Pod simulations. (Dolphin Deck, 24440 Dana Point Harbor Drive, Saturday March 10, Noon – 2:00 pm.)
Festival visitors can join Captain Dave’s crew for an intimate dolphin and whale watching excursion during the festival and try the exclusive Eye-to-Eye Underwater Viewing Pods by reserving advance tickets; call 949-488-2828 or book online. Festival of Whales dates are popular and often sell out in advance, so Festival attendees are advised to book ahead.
