Founding Member GenCanna™ Celebrates Launch of U.S. Hemp Roundtable Website
WINCHESTER, Ky. (PRWEB) March 05, 2018 -- GenCanna Global Inc.™, a worldwide leader in agriculture and industrial hemp and hemp-derived products, proudly announces the website launch of the U.S. Hemp Roundtable, “a coalition of the nation’s leading hemp companies and major national grassroots organizations representing every link of the product chain from seed to sale.”
The initial goal of the organization — of which GenCanna™ is a Founder and Member of the Board of Directors — is to lead communication and legislative action with the U.S. Congress to formally establish hemp as an agricultural commodity like corn and soy beans and to permanently remove hemp from the Controlled Substances Act through the Industrial Hemp Farming Act of 2017 (introduced by James Comer, Representative for the 1st District of Kentucky) and the expected Senate Hemp bill.
GenCanna’s position has always been that hemp and hemp-derived products, containing zero or near zero amounts of THC, are not controlled substances. Quite simply, hemp-derived products made in the USA are not marijuana. With the stewardship and thought leadership of the fellow organizations in the U.S. Hemp Roundtable, the industry moves forward with the simple, cohesive message that Hemp is Food.
Steve Bevan, GenCanna’s™ President and Secretary of the U.S. Hemp Roundtable sees the organization as an incremental step towards public education and mindful national legislation for hemp and hemp-derived products. “GenCanna™ is proud to be a founding member of the U.S. Hemp Roundtable Board of Directors. The U.S. Hemp Roundtable unites the hemp industry's most significant businesses, taking the leading role in the push for stand alone national legislation for hemp, developing hemp cultivation standards, hemp product standards and hemp testing standards. As the U.S. Hemp Roundtable launches its website, we expect to have greater communications with all hemp stakeholders: consumers, regulators, hemp industry participants and law enforcement.”
As an initial participant (2014) of the Industrial Hemp Research Pilot Program under the Kentucky Department of Agriculture, GenCanna™ helps U.S. family farmers to farm the rich, fertile soils of Kentucky, where hemp has been grown successfully since the 1700’s. A versatile and resilient crop, hemp’s potential for economic impact and consumer value ranges from nutrition and personal care to biofuels and plastics, and an educated public is the strongest ally for the future of American agriculture.
Join with industry leaders, small businesses, and individuals from across the political spectrum in supporting a crop that supports American farmers.
