PEKIN, Ill. (PRWEB) March 02, 2018 -- The annual conference for the International Association of Eating Disorders Professionals (iaedp™) Foundation is less than a month away -- and there is still time to register to attend and secure space in the iaedp Symposium’s Exhibit Hall. The activity begins on March 22 and runs through March 25 at the Omni at ChampionsGate in Orlando, Florida. To learn more, go to iaedp.com.
Available at registration is 2018 iaedp™ Symposium mobile app, a free interactive tool that allows attendees to plan and participate in the 2018 Symposium with the use of an Apple iPhone or iPad, Android devices, or on any computer. The application, available online through the iTunes store or Google Play, allows navigation of 10 multi-touch features so Symposium attendees can easily point and click on the different areas that encompass iaedp’s™ annual conference event.
Among this year’s most unique presentations in the program line-up are the seven sessions in Spanish only that addresses the latest in eating disorder treatment, causes and science. “Many of our international members prefer the Spanish presentations, and other members are bilingual to better serve some of their patients,” said Bonnie Harken, Managing Director of the iaedp™ Foundation. “Previous years’ Spanish-only presentations at the Symposium have been very popular. Our active International Chapter led by Dr. Juana Maria Poulisis of Argentina with Central America Chair Dra. Rosanna Mauro de Maya, MS, CEDRD, have provided a much needed boost and focus on training and engagement to Spanish speaking countries around the globe.”
One of the most unique traditions of the annual Symposium is the art competition, “Imagine Me Beyond What You See,” that encourages eating disorder treatment centers, art therapists, clients, therapy groups and the general public to reflect on the perception of beauty and then design mannequin-based artworks that challenge audiences to look and see beyond the purely physical. The poll is officially open for the Professional’s Choice Award, where the iaedp™ Foundation invites its members, other eating disorder professionals and the general public to vote for their favorite mannequin art entry in this year’s art competition.
“Each year, the critical mission of the Symposium is to present the leading authorities in research and treatment of eating disorders and co-occurring addictions to educate professionals and promote effective, high-quality treatment for patients,” said Bonnie Harken, Managing Director at the iaedp™ Foundation.
