BeneFIT Corporate Wellness, the workplace health and wellness arm of Populytics, Inc., regional leader in population health management and analytics, has been selected by the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing (NCHEC) to receive the 2017 Outstanding Service & Leadership Award in the organizational/employer category. The award recognizes exemplary commitment to the advancement of the Health Education Profession and of the Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES®) and Master Certified Health Education Specialist (MCHES®) credentials.
The mission of NCHEC is to enhance the professional practice of Health Education by promoting and sustaining a credentialed body of Health Education Specialists. To achieve this, the organization has developed and administers a national competency-based examination that educators must pass in order to be certified, and promotes professional development through continuing education. NCHEC’s award highlights individuals and organizations with a similar focus.
“We started our corporate wellness program with a CHES credentialed health educator on the team,” says Kristin Behler, MPH, MCHES®, Director, Health Promotion and Wellness. “It was decided that any program created to improve population health (our ultimate goal) would be built with professional health education values at the center. The intention was to support the best evidence-based approach as well as to differentiate our program from similar ones that lacked the professional credentials we had.”
BeneFIT Corporate Wellness, now employing two CHES’s and four MCHES’s, continues to make health education a foundational aspect of its platform. Shoring up program design with sound evidence-based components is a cornerstone of the company, which provides workplace wellness services for many employer clients in southeastern Pennsylvania, where the company is located, and throughout the United States.
Behler adds that the CHES’s and MCHES’s at BeneFIT have a major impact on the specific workplace communities the company serves. “They plan, implement, and evaluate clients’ wellness programs, including completing cultural and environmental assessments, employee surveys, and biometric screenings,” she says. “They also collect health data, and market and implement strategic programs to best meet the needs of each employee population.”
