Heroes in Recovery Introduces Virtual Race Series
BRENTWOOD, Tenn. (PRWEB) March 06, 2018 -- Since it was founded in 2011, Heroes in Recovery is proud to say it has hosted over 45 6K races in 12 cities across the United States. The races are a 6K, not a 5K, which not only represents the six letters in the word “HEROES,” but also symbolizes the extra distance people in recovery go to achieve a healthier lifestyle.
Additionally, the Heroes in Recovery movement has collected over 1,500 inspiring stories of recovery to encourage others and remind them they’re not alone. Together, this reflects the Heroes’ mission: eliminate the social stigma that keeps individuals with addiction and mental health issues from seeking help and create an engaged sober community that empowers people to get involved, give back and live healthy, active lives. While grateful for these achievements, the Heroes in Recovery team knows the demand for an addiction and mental health social movement is greater than ever.
In response to this need, Heroes in Recovery is honored to announce its’ new virtual 6K race series in addition to the six live races it will host in 2018 at various locations around the country. Participants can register for a traditional 6K held in a city near them or select virtual participation. Virtual racers have the freedom to run or walk anytime, anywhere, while receiving exciting gear from the Heroes in Recovery team to help spread the Heroes message. Sign up for one, two or up to six virtual Heroes 6Ks. The more races a participant registers for, the better the swag they receive.
Some participants run to celebrate their own recovery, while others walk to remember a loved one they lost to addiction. But the Heroes races aren’t just about crossing the finish line — they’re about bringing together a community to support local charities as well. A total of 11 different organizations across the country will benefit from the Heroes in Recovery 6K race series throughout the year. These nonprofit charities often serve populations that face barriers to finding treatment.
