Book Captures Historical, Cultural Context for Financial Literacy
FREDERICKSBURG, Va. (PRWEB) March 06, 2018 -- After a quantitative research to examine congregants’ knowledge of stewardship and debt management principles conducted in her home church, Rev. Dr. Donna Taylor discovered that many of these congregants are struggling and feeling trapped with repaying their consumer debts. The findings of this research inspired Taylor to write “Financial Empowerment in the African American Church: Examining the Attitudes of Congregants to Adopt Christian Stewardship and Debt Management Principles” (published by Balboa Press).
The book captures the historical and cultural context for financial literacy in the 21st century in view of the Great Recession of 2008 to 2009. It shares the interconnectedness between the knowledge of stewardship and debt management principles that can be utilized in every facet of religious life.
“This book will appeal to readers as the issue of financial literacy is an important topic for the educated consumer,” Taylor says. “It profiles the pitfalls consumers often face, which can affect them through every phase of their lives.”
“Through this book, I would like to remind readers that financial literacy is a mandatory life skill in the 21st century for persons of all ages. Saving for emergencies is the key to minimize the level of consumer debt.”
