Cloud Standards Customer Council Publishes Guidance for Migrating Applications to Public Cloud Services
NEEDHAM, Mass. (PRWEB) March 08, 2018 -- The Cloud Standards Customer Council ™(CSCC™), an end-user advocacy group dedicated to accelerating cloud's successful adoption, today published version 2.0 of its whitepaper, Migrating Applications to Public Cloud Services: Roadmap for Success (http://www.cloud-council.org/deliverables/migrating-applications-to-public-cloud-services-roadmap-for-success.htm). The whitepaper is a practical reference guide to help enterprise information technology and business decision makers analyze and consider application migration to the cloud. It specifies strategic and tactical activities to help develop business and detailed migration plans. The paper’s authors will present a webinar to walk through the guidance.
Version 2.0 takes into account the increasing diversity of approaches used to migrate applications to the cloud, such as the use of containers, virtual machines, and serverless functions, as well as the increasing use of hybrid cloud solutions. Mitigating concerns related to security, privacy, and data residency are also major focuses of the update.
Migrating applications to cloud computing must be done in a strategic and methodical manner. Existing enterprise applications must be thoroughly assessed to determine which workloads can benefit most from migration. The whitepaper addresses key considerations including migration costs, the potential need for application redesign, longevity, performance and availability, security and privacy requirements, location selection, and other potential regulatory requirements.
Authors of the paper will present a complimentary webinar (http://www.cloud-council.org/webinars/migrating-applications-to-public-cloud-services-roadmap-for-success-v2) on March 28, 2018, from 11:00am – 12:00pm ET to introduce the paper.
