“Cancer Is What I Had Not Who I Am: One Woman's Cancer Survival Story”: a compelling book that aims to bring awareness of the importance of taking care of one’s physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. “Cancer Is What I Had Not Who I Am: One Woman’s Cancer Survival Story” is the creation of published author, Katina S. Acker, a devoted Christian and a cancer survivor who has worked in the health field for over twenty-five years as a direct care provider.
Katina shares, “I was in the hospital for about three weeks before I finally received a definitive answer as to what kind of cancer I had. To all our surprise, it was thymoma. The cancer that Dr. Shabahang was 85 percent sure I didn’t have. He said he was able to send the tumor over to University of Michigan, and all forty doctors concluded that the cancer I had was thymoma. Dr. Shabahang stated if he would’ve known that was the cancer I had prior to surgery, he was not sure if he would’ve performed the surgery. God had done the impossible with the hands of a man who never thought a surgery like this could be possible. By all counts, I was considered a miracle. I had every reason to celebrate. Life was starting to look bright, but not without a fight. The devil seemed to be even madder because the road of recovery became a nightmare that I just couldn’t seem to wake up from.”
Published by Christian Faith Publishing, Katina S. Acker’s new book is an awe-inspiring work on dealing and fighting against cancer that reminds those who are diagnosed with health problems that they are more than their conditions and their battle scars with an all-powerful God.
Walking by faith may be difficult while suffering from cancer, but she stresses God’s healing power that has been proven many times in the Bible. Her book truly restores hope and provides comfort.
