Author Allen C. Liles lost his wife to an unexpected heart attack on Feb. 28, 2017. In his new book "THE FOREVER PENNY/How Our Loved Ones Stay Connected After Death," Rev. Liles reveals what happened soon after his wife passed. He began finding old and new pennies in various locations. The retired minister believed that the coins were his departed wife's way of reassuring him of her continuing presence. In the grief groups that he attended after his wife's death, other grieving individuals also reported strange phenomena that indicated their loved one's spirit was still near.
THE FOREVER PENNY details the first six months of the retired minister's grief journey. It recounts his daily meditations during which he received specific wisdom, comfort and guidance from both the still, small voice of God and his dear wife. On the first morning after Jan's death, Rev. Liles perceived God telling him, "Your wife is here with Me in Heaven and sitting right here by my side."
"I needed strong emotional and spiritual support to get through my suffering after I lost Jan so unexpectedly," he noted. "I begin each day with at least an hour of prayer and meditation. During my time in the silence, I always feel both God and Jan offering me the comfort, direction and support that I need. I can feel her spiritual essence still near me. That reassurance helps me get through the continuing grief and sadness."
Rev. Liles said that he wrote THE FOREVER PENNY for several specific reasons: (1) To offer hope to anyone who feels their connection to a loved one has been lost forever; (2) To reaffirm the existence of a benevolent and loving God that wants an ongoing relationship with each one of us and (3) To remember and honor his recently departed wife and their loving 37-year relationship."I always get up every day with new hope," he concluded, "Because I know that God and my sweetheart are waiting for me. They are both watching over and guiding me. Every time I find another penny, it's just Jan's way of reassuring me: Hey, Babe. I'm still here."
THE FOREVER PENNY was published on Feb. 28, 2018, the first anniversary of Jan's passing. Copies may be ordered through the website at http://www.foreverpenny.com, http://www.amazon.com and through your favorite bookstore.
