KENT COUNTY, Mich. (PRWEB) March 15, 2018
The Berezofsky Law Group, LLC based in Cherry Hill, NJ and Philadelphia, PA, in conjunction with Sommers Schwartz, P.C. based in Southfield, MI, Wexler Wallace LLP based in Chicago, IL, and Motley Rice LLC based in Mt. Pleasant, SC, filed a class action complaint against Wolverine World Wide, Inc. (WWW) on behalf of residents in Kent County, Michigan. The lawsuit alleges that WWW’s disposal of toxic waste containing PFOA and PFOS chemicals, over a period of decades, contaminated residential wells and drinking water in the community.
The Complaint, Johns, et al. v. Wolverine World Wide, Inc. (Case No. 18-02078-CE), filed on March 6, 2018 in Kent County Circuit Court, alleges that PFAS chemicals migrated from WWW dump sites into Plaintiffs’ water supplies. Claims asserted include negligence, public nuisance, private nuisance, fraudulent concealment, battery, and intentional infliction of emotional distress. The complaint also includes claims for diminution in property value, loss of use and enjoyment of property, remediation, alternative safe water supplies, and biomedical surveillance for early diagnosis and treatment of diseases linked to exposure to these toxic chemicals.
WWW used Scotchgard, a 3M product containing perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS) and perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) in its manufacturing process. Exposure to PFOS and PFOA has been linked to various forms of cancer, thyroid problems, and other diseases.
If you are a West Michigan resident or property owner who has suffered harm because of exposure to the toxic PFAS chemicals dumped by WWW, you may have a legal claim.
