PORTLAND, Ore. and ORLANDO, Fla. (PRWEB) March 19, 2018
Ball Janik LLP’s Portland office was ranked as one of the most diverse law firms in the Portland, Oregon Metro area.
The Portland Business Journal analyzed data from a survey it conducted of Portland metro-area law firms. According to the Portland Business Journal, the “percent share of women and racial minorities among total local attorneys and total partners were added up to determine each firm’s Diversity Ranking.”
Since its inception in 1982, women have had a strong presence at Ball Janik. The firm is proud that 25% of its attorneys are women and that 20% are partners. Of the firm’s attorneys, 20% are minorities, 7% of which are partners.
Throughout the year Ball Janik supports Oregon Women Lawyers (OWLS) and the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) by sponsoring events, volunteering on committees and boards, and encouraging its lawyers to participate in these organizations.
Additionally, Ball Janik played a critical role in planning, sponsoring and participating in the spring 2017 “Women in Construction: A Conference to Educate and Empower.” This inaugural conference was a construction-industry-focused event that addressed a robust range of topics that was presented by women and men who support women, with the goal to further educate and empower women in the industry.
Ball Janik has sponsored the activities of the Oregon State Bar's nationally recognized Opportunities for Law in Oregon, a program of the OSB Affirmative Action Program that seeks to recruit and retain minority law students in Oregon. The firm has joined many of our peers in signing the Multnomah Bar Association Statement of Diversity Principles, which highlights our commitment to developing diversity in Oregon’s legal community. Additionally, Ball Janik’s lawyers have volunteered their time to the OSB Affirmative Action Committee and the Multnomah Bar Association Committee to Enhance Equality in the Profession. The firm encourages and supports its lawyers who participate in these activities.
The firm welcomes diversity in race and ethnicity, age, gender, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, and physical abilities, as well as generational diversity, backgrounds and viewpoints.
