The Law Offices of James Scott Farrin Adds Three New Attorneys
DURHAM, N.C. (PRWEB) March 22, 2018 -- The Law Offices of James Scott Farrin continues to expand their personal injury attorney roster with the addition of Coleman Cowan, Vanessa Beltrán, and Wendy L. Nolan. The firm currently has 46 attorneys that handle personal injury, workers’ compensation, social security disability, eminent domain, whistleblower, mass torts, and products liability.
Coleman Cowan
Litigation attorney and Emmy award-winner Coleman Cowan has joined the law firm to help litigate some of the more complex high-stakes cases as the firm places more of an emphasis on trial to jury litigation. While Cowan is well known for his award-winning “60 Minutes” news documentaries, he is also an accomplished litigator, having acted as lead counsel on trials to jury in multi-million dollar products liability, medical malpractice, and personal injury claims.
While Cowan began his career as an attorney, at about the 10-year mark his career path led him away from North Carolina courtrooms and into war zones, jungles, and mountaintops across the world as a producer for “60 Minutes” and “CBSN On Assignment,” and as a reporter for “BusinessWeek” magazine. His stories covered everything from war, politics, and economics, to sports and adventure. He has won two Emmy awards, a Peabody, a Gracie, a Polk, and a Sigma Delta Chi award. Cowan recently returned to his roots as a litigator, where he said he can help decide right from wrong in a courtroom by telling people’s stories in front of a jury of 12 instead of an audience of potentially millions, as he had done for many years in journalism.
Vanessa Beltrán
While Vanessa Beltrán handles personal injury cases for the law firm, she also has experience in mass torts, product liability, and healthcare fraud and abuse, and she clerked for the Hon. Judge Aldo Gonzalez in the area of criminal law. She received her J.D. from the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico, School of Law, summa cum laude and was awarded the Criminal Law Medal and Puerto Rico Judiciary Association award for academic achievements and leadership. She holds a B.A. in Criminal Justice summa cum laude from the University of Puerto Rico, Carolina Campus and was awarded the “Gran Premio del Rector” for academic excellence.
Wendy L. Nolan
Wendy Nolan has joined the firm as a personal injury attorney. Her legal background includes all facets of personal injury law including initial client contact, settlement negotiations, mediations, arbitrations, depositions, and jury trials. Nolan has also handled unemployment benefits appeals as a hearings officer, and has done pro bono work helping to write wills and powers of attorney for emergency responders in Forsyth County, NC.
