Craig Snyder’s New Book “The Boxers of Youngstown Ohio: Boxing Capital of the World” looks at the World of Professional Boxing and its Influence in Sports and Recreation
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (PRWEB) March 27, 2018 -- Craig Snyder, the seventh of eight children born in Youngstown, Ohio, has completed his new book “The Boxers of Youngstown Ohio: Boxing Capital of the World”: a compilation of exploits by professional boxers, detailing their lives from their humble origins to becoming legends, albeit overlooked.
Author Snyder reflects the passion of simple men in their efforts to achieve their personal dreams in the field of sports: “Jimmy started his career off very well, yet his story doesn’t have a happy ending. His is one that begins as the typical story of a professional boxer yet ends in a combination of the movies Casino and Goodfellas. This middleweight from Niles won 5 of his first 6 having 1 draw and 3 KO wins. His career started on March 15, 1921, at Anderson Auditorium with a 6-round decision victory over Young Walters. Six days later, he notched another victory, this time by KO over Micky Brown of New Castle, Pennsylvania. On May 23, 1921, Jimmy won by 2-round KO over Johnny Miller. Jimmy’s first loss came in his lucky number 7 bout to Toledo’s Tommy Milton. Jimmy next put together a string of 8 bouts where he would go unbeaten with 2 draws.”
Published by New York City-based Page Publishing, Craig Snyder’s book conveys its ultimate goal of proclaiming the sacrifices and riveting circumstances of men who have taken a gamble in professional boxing—some with bouts of success while others with moments of blunder.
