Operation Homefront Names Delaware Resident its Volunteer of the Year
SAN ANTONIO (PRWEB) March 22, 2018 -- Operation Homefront, a national nonprofit serving America’s military families®, recently named a Middletown, Del., resident its national 2017 Volunteer of the Year. Patrick Hitchens received the award, announced during the organization’s 2018 Leadership Conference held in San Antonio.
The Operation Homefront Volunteer of the Year Award recognizes an outstanding adult, youth, group or corporate entity who, by exemplary service as a volunteer, demonstrates commitment to Operation Homefront’s values and to its mission of building strong, stable, and secure military families.
“I am thrilled to recognize Patrick Hitchens for his outstanding service and commitment to our military families,” said Brig. Gen. (ret.) John I. Pray Jr., president and CEO of Operation Homefront. “Patrick works tirelessly to help to help us accomplish our mission to build strong, stable, and secure military families so that they can thrive – not simply struggle to get by – in the communities they have worked so hard to protect. He represents the thousands of amazing volunteers who give their time, energy and talent to help us care for that very special group of our fellow citizens who have done so much for all of us – our troops and their families.”
Last year, 6,157 Operation Homefront volunteers logged more than 84,000 hours, providing more than $2 million in value to the organization. As the regional coordinator for all of Delaware, Patrick has taken a significant leadership role, handling program delivery, volunteer coordination, fundraising, partner engagement, and outreach to military and civilian communities, according to his award citation.
