She holds a doctorate in public health from the University of Texas School of Public Health and wrote her dissertation on leadership and patient safety. Dr. Walsh will join a panel of experts to discuss health IT and clinical leadership May 10.
In addition to practicing internal medicine at Private Medical — an organization he also founded — Jordan Shlain, MD, is a digital health entrepreneur, writer and respected thought leader in national health policy. He most recently served as a mayor-appointed commissioner of the Health Service Systems Board of San Francisco. Dr. Shlain will join a panel of experts to discuss health IT and clinical leadership May 10.
Sameer Badlani, MD, vice president and chief health information officer at Sutter Health Information Services, is an expert in enterprise analytics, data management and clinical informatics, with a special focus on using technology for clinician engagement, social psychology in the delivery of healthcare and generating actionable analytics in clinical and business processes to automate workflows. Dr. Badlani is a board-certified internist with expertise in inpatient transplant and consultative medicine. He will present a keynote address on the intersection of health IT and clinical leadership May 11.
Ira Byock, MD, founder and CMO of the Providence Institute for Human Caring, is a palliative care physician, author and public advocate for improving care through the end of life — a goal he has been working toward since 1978. His research has informed conceptual frameworks for the lived experience of advanced illness, subjective quality of life measures and simple but effective life-completion counseling. Dr. Byock will join a panel of experts May 10 to discuss health, IT and the political environment.
