PsychArmor Institute, SHRM Foundation Announce Partnership to Educate HR Professionals on Military Culture
SAN DIEGO (PRWEB) March 27, 2018 -- PsychArmor Institute and the SHRM Foundation today announced a partnership to bring PsychArmor's School for Employers who Invest in Military Talent to human resource professionals and employers across the country. Sponsored by Comcast NBCUniversal, the resources provide information on different aspects of military culture to assist HR professionals in ensuring Veterans and service members are successfully hired, on-boarded, and retained.
"Veterans, Guardsmen and Reservists face unique challenges in the workplace, so it is imperative that we educate employers and HR professionals on the ways to best support them," said Marjorie Morrison, CEO and founder of the PsychArmor Institute. "This partnership with the SHRM Foundation is an incredible opportunity for us to educate those who are in a position to foster the strengths and experiences of those who have served our country and help translate these skills into the civilian workplace."
A 2017 SHRM Foundation summit on Veteran employment found that integrating and engaging service members into the workforce can add substantial value to an organization, but HR professionals often need more resources to educate their employers and service members in the areas of cultural competency, acumen, and the transition process. The SHRM Foundation launched its Veterans workforce initiative to make a measurable impact on the hiring and retention of Veterans by developing tools, resources, and better data on their employment.
PsychArmor courses will be available to SHRM's 285,000 members to better equip employers to meet the needs of Veteran and service member employees and to foster military-friendly workplaces around the globe. Select courses may qualify for SHRM recertification credits.
While PsychArmor has a library of over 100 hundred training courses, 28 are specifically tailored to meet the needs of employers who want to invest in military talent and an additional 12 focus on educating civilians about various aspects of military culture including:
- Hiring and Retaining Veterans, National Guard and Reserve Personnel
- Building a Veteran Employee Resource Group
- Battle Forged, Business Ready: Helping Veterans with Substance Use Disorder Succeed
- Supporting Veterans, Family Members and Wounded Warrior Caregivers with Flexible Work Options
- And many more!
PsychArmor continues to help bridge the military-civilian divide and support our Veterans and military service members through educational awareness and understanding.
