Lauralton Hall Hosts Annual Discover Lauralton Event for 5th, 6th, and 7th Grade Girls and Their Parents
MILFORD, Conn. (PRWEB) March 29, 2018 -- Lauralton Hall invites girls in 5th, 6th, and 7th grades and their parents to Discover Lauralton on Sunday, April 8, 2018, from 1:00 pm - 3:30 pm. This annual event takes place at Lauralton Hall, 200 High Street, Milford, Connecticut.
Throughout the afternoon girls will participate in a variety of small group activities, which they pre-select based on their interests in science, languages, sports, music, and art. In addition, attendees meet Lauralton students and teachers and see campus facilities including the School’s Flavia P. Finucane Innovation Lab, Athletic Center, Chapel, and Dining Hall.
Parents have the opportunity to meet faculty, administrators, and college counselors as well as to attend a session on the admissions and financial aid process and participate in Q&A sessions with current parents and students.
“Discover Lauralton is a wonderful opportunity for girls to experience our tradition of Mercy-inspired education in a warm and welcoming environment,” said Elizabeth Miller, Head of School. “We look forward to talking with parents about the value we offer as an independent school including our signature academic programs -- from the ongoing authentic archaeological dig on our historic grounds to our long-standing ‘physics first’ approach to science,” added Miller.
Attendees have the opportunity to see student artwork on display in Claven Auditorium and to hear Lauralton’s choral and instrumental ensembles. For more information and to register for Discover Lauralton, go to http://www.lauraltonhall.org/discover.
As part of Lauralton’s Early Decision program, girls in 7th grade are invited to take the Lauralton Hall entrance exam on Saturday, May 5, 8:00 am to noon at Lauralton Hall.
According to Director of Enrollment Kathleen Shine, the 7th grade exam option was implemented in 2012 as an increasing number of students and families began looking into high school options earlier. Students who take the exam in May receive their scores in June and then can decide to apply early or take the entrance exam again in the fall of 8th grade.
“We encourage girls interested in Lauralton to take advantage of this early option,” said Shine. “Our data show that there’s no downside for students who take the exam at the end of 7th grade versus the beginning of 8th grade.”
